What is the role of textile in today’s digitizing world? How can this be used to create a sensory experience? Designer Fenna van der Klei presents ‘(r)evolutionary textiles’: her newest collection standing interior-textiles providing answers to this question.
‘(r)evolutionary textiles’ - product launch by design studio Fenna van der Klei
Fenna van der Klei is a textile and product designer who strives for more personal contact with our living and object environments. She suggests sensory material and product answers as a reply to what the role of textile can be in today’s digitizing world. In collaboration with Ace&Tate she will be launching ‘(r)evolutionary textiles’ during Dutch Design Week 2021. The studio’s newest collection standing textile-screens is a result of research into the human perception and power of colour and how to use this to create moments of interaction. The pleated textile elements change appearance when moved around the work and so shape an interplay with the spectator. By applying this into interior textiles, the studio implements the effect into our living environments and strives to stimulate the relationship between human, material and space.
