Embassy of Mobility

Eindhoven is growing fast and at the same time it must remain sustainable and attractive. This calls for smart use of space, more greenery and a smaller ecological footprint. At the same time, the demand for mobility is increasing.

Mobility in Eindhoven

The mobility transition focuses on less travel during rush hours and more use of sustainable means of transport such as public transport, cycling and shared transport. However, changing travel behaviour is difficult. We can tackle this by turning four knobs: hardware (infrastructure), software (digital tools), mindware (behavioural change) and organisation ware (organising the demand for mobility differently). Students have already developed concepts for projects such as Knoop XL and HOV to make public transport more attractive.

The question is: how can we organise society differently so that the demand for mobility better matches the available resources? This is necessary to keep Eindhoven sustainable, attractive and accessible for everyone.
